It’s been a while since I’ve given an update on everyone’s favorite near future fixer, Artemis Bridge. Late last year, I posted that I’d be taking a bit of a hiatus from his adventures to focus on my cosmic horror series, The Stepping Stone Cycle. I’ve published two novellas in the series, First Stone and The Metal Black, and am happy to report that I’ve completed the first draft of the third novella in the series. The initial sales haven’t been great on these novellas, but the reviews have been good and I’m enjoying building the story slowly, brick by brick. By the time I’m finished with the sixth novella, which will conclude the first season, I think readers will be amazed at the shocking conclusion I’ve got planned.
Where does that leave the Bridge Chronicles though? I’ve been itching to dip my toes back into those waters for a while now, and I’ve decided to switch up the schedule a little bit. Starting today, I’ll begin writing more Bridge fiction, specifically more short stories that will eventually make up a second volume of Tales from the Bridge Chronicles. My current plan is to finish a Stepping Stone novella, then write at least one Bridge Chronicles short story while my wife does a once-over on the Stone novella before starting on the next cosmic horror book. That way, I get a little cyberpunk, then a little cosmic horror and keep myself fresh. Each of the cyberpunk short stories will either end up on this web site, or in the next Tales compilation or both. They may even pop up in some places you don’t expect – stay tuned to this site or my Twitter feed for more details.
For all you fans of the Bridge Chronicles, I appreciate your patience as I have explored this other genre and I hope you’ve at least taken a look at my other work set in the Cthulhu Mythos. You’ll get to see more of your favorite smart ass Artemis Bridge soon.
